First Trailer for Julian Fellowes’ Titanic Miniseries

Posted By on December 24, 2011

Julian Fellowes, the creator of smash hit Downton Abbey, is making a four-part, large-scale Titanic miniseries, and the first trailer came out today. I must say, I’m a little surprised (and disappointed) that I don’t recognize any of the faces in it – I only occasionally watch British TV but am more familiar with the faces than the average American and none of these actors are familiar. Steven Waddington of Garrow’s Law, which is on my to-watch list, plays the ship’s second officer.

Watch the trailer (apologies, cannot be embedded in my country)

The miniseries was shot in Hungary and according to Ian Wylie:

The TV drama tells a much wider story than James Cameron’s 1997 movie and sees the ship hitting the iceberg near the end of each of the first three episodes. Then returning in the next episode to a fresh starting point and another perspective on the story. Before we discover the fate of all of the characters in the fourth and concluding hour.”

Titanic will debut on April 12, 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking, airing simultaneously in over 50 countries (anyone else think the timing is a bit morbid?).
