Van Ness Wu “Is This All” feat. Ryan Tedder

Taiwanese pop star Van Ness Wu (who is one of the few Asian celebrities to speak English as a first language) is one of the few international stars to come out of Asia.
His most recent music video, released last week, features Ryan Tedder of One Republic.
The video is high-concept and beautifully shot, but this is a case I think in which the idea was better than the execution. There’s a little too much going on here, and the song doesn’t feel quite epic enough to match the intensity of the visual themes of overcoming physical limitations and pressing on to overcome challenges no matter what. Nonetheless, it’s beautiful to look at (clearly very high-budget) and gripping overall.
